It has come to our attention that many end users are not too happy with the card registration fee we charge. This is a nominal charge for less than $1.00 we charge to end users. With such a collected fee we are able to cover the costs and confirm the actual cardholder via our verification system. Indeed many payment processors do refund this amount back to their account, but on our side when such a transaction is initiated there are costs involved that are not directly related to the actual sale of an application where we can charge developers account.
We introduced this verification process to prevent chargebacks, and if such fees incurred, they would be applied to developers account. Fortunately we have had hardly any chargebacks till date.
Therefore we are reaching out to developers to get their feedback.
If a fee of 0.30 cents will be an amount you as a developer could accept via a 'Completed' sale transacted via our Direct Card Pay option? (This does not apply for sales via Amazon Payments which have a processing fee of %5+ $0.05).
Looking forward to your thoughts on this issue.
Developers Fees for sales transacted via the Direct Card Payment
Hi,
if we compare the real (net) revenue generated from SlideME sales with the volumes generated from the Google Android marketplace we've to point out that
- net income is actually lower than with the Google Android market
- extra charges for non-US developrs are high
- SlideME has a complicated/time consuming checkout procedure for developers
- there's no real balance overview or onlie statements
- we're missing a protections mechanism avoiding product piracy (similar to Android licensing mechanism)
Best Regards

Appreciate your feedback.
Appreciate your feedback. Don't think we can be compared yet to sales generated via A.M for obvious reasons.
extra charges for non-US developers are high
Can you clarify?
adding: We do NOT have extra fees for non-US developers. Are you referring to the bank wire fee of $30.00 that applies if you wish for funds to be remitted to you via bank wire and not Paypal?
SlideME has a complicated/time consuming checkout procedure for developers
Being developed with invoice template automation for developers.
adding: Actually it's quite simple even as it is now, since we do it all for you the developer and we are making it simpler. We prepare a report and invoice template for your accumulated transactions, and you simply issue a single invoice for all. Isn't this much simpler than you having to issue an invoice per sale as you are required by Android Market according to section 3.2, then collect the sales taxes, then remit the collected sales taxes to the authorities?
there's no real balance overview or online statements
This is ready and shall be provided on next deployment
we're missing a protections mechanism avoiding product piracy (similar to Android licensing mechanism)

Sticking to the topic:
Are you supportive of such a fee $0.30 being added to transactions via the Direct Card payment option?
I guess most developers don't
I guess most developers don't mind additional charge if the SlideMe is a more lively marketplace. Current SlideMe charge is very good actually - we just need it to reach out to more countries / users.
