A widget that displays the minutes to figurative midnight of the Doomsday Clock maintained by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists.
From the site: The Doomsday Clock conveys how close humanity is to catastrophic destruction - the figurative midnight - and monitors the means humankind could use to obliterate itself. First and foremost, these include nuclear weapons, but they also encompass climate-changing technologies and new developments in the life sciences that could inflict irrevocable harm. The clock has been maintained since 1947, when the time was seven minutes to midnight. Since then, the closest time to midnight was in 1953 when the USA and the Soviet Union tested thermonuclear devices within nine months of one another (Timeline).
For now, clock update frequency is fixed to once per hour. If the "Background data" setting is disabled in Sync settings, clock updates will be skipped.
