Interesting Download counts from SlideME

Just noticed MapDroyd has mentioned on their web site:

"Yippee! More than 10.000 active MapDroyd installations (Android Market 2010-02-10)"

and on http://slideme.org/application/mapdroyd #9937 downloads.

This is quite interesting download count from SlideME when compared to Android Market.

I find it quite interesting

I find it quite interesting indeed, but how is it (the download count displayed next to each application) computed ?

Is it the amount of times the .apk has been downloaded, even if the same user did it several times ?

Is it the number of "active" installations, like on Android Market ?
Do you have more informations to give us ?

Something else ?
